Anyone who abhors having to labor over the stove, waiting for things to cook, blesses the soul who came up with the idea for the first microwave. The microwave has been the answer to many of our culinary problems and of course it helps that it whips up a meal in a matter of minutes. But the biggest problem that arises when it comes to using a microwave is having to clean it.
If you own a microwave, you would be familiar with a kitchen appliance that is splattered with remnants of your cooking experiments. You would also probably never forget the pain that comes with having to clean it. If you want to clean a microwave oven with ease, then there are some simple methods that you can try out. Many microwave problems actually arise from not having cleaned the device properly.
Cleaning a Microwave with Baking Soda
Using baking soda can be an effective way of cleaning the microwave. First take a bowl of water and add a couple of teaspoons of baking soda to the water. Now place this bowl of water in the microwave and heat it for a period of three to five minutes, depending on how big a mess has been made inside the microwave. After the water is heated, do not open the microwave.
Instead keep the microwave door closed for a couple of minutes to allow the moisture from the bowl to soften the filth attached to the insides. The baking soda you have added to the water works as a deodorizer. Open the microwave and use the water with baking soda added to it to clean the insides. Use a thick cleaning sponge to do this. Be careful while doing this as the water will be hot. This method should allow you to clean the insides of the microwave with absolutely no trouble.
Cleaning a Microwave with Vinegar
Cleaning a microwave using vinegar is pretty much the same as the method used previously. To a bowl of water, add a tablespoon of white vinegar, and heat it in the microwave for about five minutes. After you have done this remove the bowl from the microwave, remove all the removable parts of the microwave, and clean the insides of the microwave using a towel. The turntable of the microwave can be cleaned like any other normal glass dish.
Cleaning a Microwave with Lemon
To clean a microwave oven with lemon, you will need one lemon and paper towels. All you need to do is cut a lemon in half and then place them inside the microwave on a plate. When you place the lemon, remember that the cut side should face downwards. Place a tablespoon of water with the lemon inside the microwave. Now heat for about a minute or till you can see that the inside of the microwave is steamy. Now just remove the lemon from inside the microwave and clean the insides of the microwave with paper towels.
These are just three methods that you can use. Other than these you can also use an all-purpose cleaner to clean the microwave. Once you have cleaned the microwave oven, remember to leave it open for a while so that it can air out properly. To avoid a long drawn cleaning process cover your food slightly when it is being cooked.
It is also advisable that you clean a microwave as soon as it gets dirty. Allowing the spills to stay and dry can make the process of cleaning more difficult. For microwave oven safety, ensure that you always unplug the microwave while cleaning it. Also it is important that you clean the microwave twice every month. Cleaning a microwave is very easy and all you need are a few things that are available in most kitchens and you should be good to go.
