Smokers find it difficult for their clothes, to not offend people they are meeting, especially if it's a business meeting. In fact, people who spend the day in the midst of cigarette smoke also happen to carry home the nasty odor. It's quite annoying to bear the brunt of somebody else's actions. For all such instances, you desperately need a quick solution to remove cigarette smell from clothes.

Removing Cigarette Smell from Clothes

Baking Soda and Vinegar
Fill the washer with the hottest water recommended on the label of your clothes. Now, add one cup baking soda and one cup white vinegar to the hot water. Dunk the clothes in this solution and leave it to be soaked for an hour. After an hour, add detergent into the same solution and wash the clothes as one would normally do. Your clothes will have a fresh smell and feel.

If you only have vinegar at home, then don't worry. Vinegar by itself also does the trick. Just fill a bucket with an inch of the hottest water recommended on the label of the clothing. Add four cups of vinegar to the bath and dunk the clothing into it. Shut the bathroom door and allow the steam to work on the clothing. This steam from the vinegar water is the one that works the magic and removes the nasty odor.

Spray-on Odor
Lunch with a number of smokers can often leave you with clothes that stink of cigarette smoke. And it makes things worse if you have to rush to a meeting after lunch. There's no time to wash or change the clothes, so what does one do in such situations? You cannot return to the office smelling like an ashtray. Well, it's best to keep the odor-eliminator spray with you. It works well by removing the odor and does not mix with the cigarette odor like other deodorants and conduce to an even more noxious smell. You can spray them on before heading to the office.

Baking Soda and Drying Sheets
In a plastic bag, place two dryer sheets and two tablespoons of baking soda. Into this plastic bag, drop the clothing and seal the plastic bag by tying it properly. The dryer sheets suck out all the cigarette odor from the clothing and takes it upon itself. Let the clothes remain in the bag for the next two days. After two days, open the bag and take out the clothes. Shake off all excess baking soda adhering to the clothing. Now, put the clothing into the washer with detergent and some vinegar. Half a cup of vinegar is sufficient. Wash normally and get rid of the smell.

Coffee Grounds
This remedy is effective for removing cigarette smell from fur garments. Place the fur garment in a large plastic bag. Hang the plastic bag on a nail and at the bottom of this bag, place a plastic container. Fill half the container with fresh coffee grounds. The coffee grounds will suck out all the cigarette odor and will leave your clothes smelling of coffee. You need to leave the clothes in the bag for a few days, till the clothing smells of coffee. Stir the coffee grounds well everyday. Once the coffee odor replaces the cigarette odor, leave the clothes outside in fresh air. The coffee odor will disappear.

One point of advice is, do not let the smoke set into the clothes for more than a day. This will make it even more difficult to get rid of.
