Mosquitoes bothering you? How about we give you instructions for one of the best mosquito traps that you can use? Read the following section for exactly that.
You’re sleeping peacefully at night when suddenly buzzz…buzzzz…buzzzz… the mosquitoes start buzzing right next to your ears, waking you up from your deep slumber. You sleepily wave them off, only to be woken by their needle-like bite a few seconds later. This is not just the case of one night, but the same thing keeps repeating night and night over.
Mosquito bites are not only irritating and painful, but there is a high risk of developing diseases like malaria or dengue because of them as well. So how do you get rid of these? There are varied options such as mosquito repellents and mosquito traps that are readily available in the market; or you could make some on your own.
Easy Homemade Trap
While there are several traps available in the market, making a trap at home is pretty simple as well. Follow the steps given below to build one on your own.
- Take an empty plastic bottle. Right under the point where the neck of the bottle straightens onto the body, use a sharp knife, and cut across.
- This will give you a funnel and a cylinder–put the inverted funnel into the cylinder and tape them together such that they fit properly.
- Mix some dry yeast, sugar or honey, and water, and fill about one-third of the cylinder with this mixture. Now using a black colored paper, wrap the whole thing and keep it aside.
- Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide. The mixture of sugar and yeast releases this gas. This is what will attract the mosquitoes to the trap and they will fly right to the cylinder. Once inside, they will either get stuck to the sugar or will be unable to escape through the narrow funnel, and end up dying.
If you want, you can also go in for the traps that are available in the market. There are also various plants that repel mosquitoes, such as pineapple weed, peppermint, and so on. Try this trap at home and get freedom from these pesky insects.
